American aerospace contractor SpaceX made history in 2012 when its Dragon spacecraft became the first commercial vehicle to deliver cargo to the International Space Station.

Now, the Elon Musk-helmed company is preparing to write the next chapter of space exploration with its Crew Dragon spacecraft, which is designed to transport astronauts to and from the International Space Station. With two teaser videos posted on social media, the company has finally unveiled the spacecraft's sleek interior to the public for the first time:

On its website, SpaceX touts the vehicle's advanced Environmental Control and Life Support System, emergency escape system and high-quality construction.

Crew Dragon is currently slated for an unmanned test flight late next year. Barring any unexpected problems, it could be officially deployed for crewed flights as early as 2017. NASA has already contracted SpaceX to perform up to 6 crew delivery missions.
