For the first time since 1982 and the last time until 2033, Mother Nature dazzled much of the world with a breathtaking supermoon eclipse on Sunday evening.

When the moon reaches the point of its orbit when it is closest to Earth -- known as its perigee -- the resulting "supermoon" is 14% larger and 30% brighter than at its farthest point, or apogee. Spectacular in and of itself, last night's supermoon was also paired with a total lunar eclipse, sending spectators into a frenzy to document the gorgeous event.
