This Anti-Urination Wall Will Pee Back at You

San Francisco recently introduced new technology that gives public urinators a taste of their own medicine.

Throughout the city, ten walls have been coated with a specialized hydrophobic paint that repels urine -- and all liquids, for that matter. When a drunk desperado goes to relieve himself onto the painted wall, the coating reflects the urine right back to its source:

"The urine will bounce back on the guy's pants and shoes. The idea is they will think twice next time about urinating in public," Public Works Department spokeswoman Rachel Gordon told Reuters.

The technology was designed by UltraTech International and originally deployed in Hamburg, Germany. It was recently rolled out in Fog City to combat rampant public urination: despite a 2002 ban on urinating in public, the city received more than 5,500 urine-related sidewalk steam cleaning requests in the first six months of 2013.
