1,500-Pound Bear Reminds Us What A Bear Hug Actually Is

At the Orphaned Wildlife Center, there's plenty of love to go around -- just ask Jimbo, a 1,500-pound Kodiak bear that stands nearly 10 feet tall. In a video making the rounds on Facebook, the gentle giant is seen giving bear trainer Jim Kowalczik a literal bear hug for the ages:

Someone asked for video of Jim and Jimbo playing. I found this on my phone! :)

Jimbo has been under Kowalczik's care for two decades. The facility, which is staffed by licensed wildlife rehabilitators, cares for a host of beautiful animals that are left unable to survive in the wild without parental care.

"There can be no greater sorrow for a baby bear than to lose their mother. It is a great privilege for us to offer an orphaned cub safety, nurturing and a chance to return to the wild," the organization says.

It's worth mentioning that Jimbo was born into captivity and has been around humans for his entire life. While wild bears may look majestic from afar, going in for a bear hug is not something that we recommend trying.
