Such a special moment caught by our head of Reptiles & Venom Billy Collett! One of our brand new, freshly hatched king brown snakes taking its very first breath!!!!

This is probably the first and last time that we'll think to describe a mulga snake (Pseudechis australis) as "cute."

Eventually, this little bugger could grow to be nearly 10 feet long, making it amongst the largest snake species found in Australia. The venomous creature will learn to feed on lizards, small mammals, birds and -- yes -- even other venomous snakes.

For now, however, it's a relatively cute, freshly hatched stranger in a new world (in this case, the Australian Reptile Park).

Park officials took to Facebook earlier this week to share the remarkable video of the snake's first moments, which proved to be an instant hit, garnering thousands of shares.
