None of the cockroaches that scurry around your house are as frightening as this bad boy!

Researchers Peter Vrsansky and Gunter Bechly examined this large predatory cockroach (Manipulator modificaputis) as part of a new study published in Geologica Carpathica. It roamed modern-day Myanmar during the Upper Cretaceous period, between 66 and 100 million years ago, and was recently discovered fully preserved in amber.

They believe that the cockroach's elongated arms and movable head indicate that it was an aggressive predator. Its sole living descendent is the much gentler praying mantis.
