Looking to escape the sweltering South Africa summer heat, a group of vervet monkeys decided to cool off in the best way they know how: a dip in the pool.

Michael Derek Rout's camera was rolling as the vervet monkeys cannonballed, dove and swam through the clear waters of his friend's backyard pool in Durban, South Africa.

It's no wonder that the monkeys felt the need to take a quick dip -- according to historical data, the summer swelter reaches its peak in January, with average temperatures above 80 degrees and uncomfortably high levels of humidity.
