On the morning of May 3, the Confederates renewed their attacks with undiminished ferocity, and as Pvt. John Chase vividly remembered the men of his Maine battery soon found themselves facing annihilation. Chase would later be awarded the Medal of Honor for his bravery at Chancellorsville, but not before he lost an arm at Gettysburg. |
