What are the prizes?

There is (1) Grand Prize - a trip for four people to Hot Springs, South Dakota, to participate in a dig at The Mammoth Site, a working paleontological excavation site and in-situ fossil exhibit of mammoths and other Ice-Age animals. The trip, which must be taken in July 2002, includes round trip coach air travel, accommodations for three nights, a tour of The Mammoth Site and use of a rental car and a few additional local area activities to be named later. The trip is valued at $4,000.

There are (100) First Prizes - Ice AgeTM on Game Boy® Advance video game valued at $39.99. As Manny the mammoth and Sid the sloth, you'll use your colossal size or dashing speed in your quest to return baby Roshan safely to the human camp. Solve puzzles, defeat vicious saber-tooth tigers and avoid wild, prehistoric creatures in this hilarious and very cool adventure.

There are (500) Second Prizes - an Ice AgeTM cooler bag valued at $15. Pack a cool meal or chilly beverages and keep them that way in your collectible Ice AgeTM insulated bag.

When and how are the winners selected? The winners will be chosen in a random drawing on March 25, 2002.

What are my chances of winning? Your chances of winning are based on the number of people who enter, which we estimate will be around 25,000.

By entering the sweepstakes will I automatically win something? No, when you enter, you are entering for a chance to win a prize.

What should I do if I can't reach the sweepstakes web pages when I try to visit? Come back and try again another time! Many Internet sites experience "traffic jams" from time to time. Refreshing the page may help. However, if you have problems connecting to all web sites, contact your system administrator; you may have a problem at your end.

I'm having trouble entering the sweepstakes - my computer seems to be too slow or times out repeatedly. What should I do? From time to time, the Internet experiences heavy periods of traffic. The slowdown in the registration process is often caused by a large number of consumers trying to register for the sweepstakes at the same time. If you are experiencing "time-outs" while trying to register, we suggest that you wait a few minutes or try again at a later time.

What e-mail will I receive as part of this sweepstakes? The information you provide will be used in connection with this sweepstakes only and will not be used for any other purpose. If you would like to receive information from Discovery Channel on upcoming shows and promotion, please visit Discovery.com and click on My Discovery to register.

I have a friend who wants to enter. Can he or she still participate even though the sweepstakes has already started? Yes! Your friend may enter once a day at www.discovery.com through March 18, 2002.

How many people can enter the sweepstakes? The sweepstakes has an ongoing registration so it is difficult to say, but there is no maximum number.

I'm a Macintosh user. Will I have trouble entering the sweepstakes? No, the sweepstakes is equally accessible through MACs and PCs.

Where can I send feedback about the sweepstakes? You can send general feedback and suggestions to letters@discovery.com.

What if I have read all of the FAQs and I'm still having a problem entering? If you are still encountering difficulties entering, you can send an e-mail to letters@discovery.com to inform us of your questions.
