John Bunce, 1985-2012
Some called John a ladies man. He said he "seasonally dates." John first came to Nome at the age of 10. His family broke apart and moved back to the lower 48, spending the last five years bouncing back and forth from Nome to Homer. John became Zeke's friend and was a part of his dredging team over the winter. He worked almost exclusively in gold, but Bering Sea Gold: Under the Ice was his first time working on the ice.
John's passing is a reminder that no matter what problems you are struggling with, hurting yourself is not the answer. If you or someone you know is in an emotional distress or suicidal crisis, please call the Lifeline at 1-800-273-TALK (8255).
