Google Street View: Climbing the Dawn Wall

posted: 04/14/15

In the below panorama, Tommy Caldwell climbs the Dawn Wall on El Capitan, Yosemite National Park, California. This left to right traverse, found halfway up the 3000 foot tall wall, is the route's most demanding section. The Dawn Wall has been called by many "the world's most difficult climb." Scroll around within the image to see Tommy's view. (Street View: Google Maps and Sender Films)

Scroll down to view Tommy Caldwell leaving his wall base camp far below, ascending a fixed rope using specialized climbing equipment. The rope gives Caldwell the ability to move up and down the wall relatively easily, so he can practice difficult sections and then return to camp at the end of the day.
