To a shark, a dead sperm whale floating in the water is a veritable feast. The whales, which can grow to be nearly 70 feet long, provide enough meat to keep a shark full for a pretty long time.

That being said, it's no surprise that five sharks jumped at the opportunity to feast on a dead sperm whale that was floating leisurely in the waters off of New South Wales. According to diver Brett Vercoe, who shot this remarkable footage, three great white sharks and two tiger sharks enjoyed a remarkable repast of sperm whale carcass for more than three hours.

The whale eventually washed up and was buried on Campbell's Beach. Vercoe notes that the large carcass will take several years to decompose -- and the smell of rotting flesh will serve as a constant reminder of the whale's presence.
