Happy Pi Day!
Discovery Channel is celebrating the constantly awesome mathematical constant that makes all the cool technology in our shows possible. In honor of the Pi experiments going on around the world today, we're proud to announce "The Big Brain Theory," our new show that's fresh out of the laboratory. Tune-in later this spring as host Kal Penn takes a cast of genius competitors through a series of insane scientific challenges.
Record Pi & You Could Win
In the meantime we want to hear from you on Pi Day and in the days leading up to our new show. Think you've got the mastery of all things Pi and the fastest brain around? Then you could be a winner of an ever-awesome Discovery Prize Pack. We are challenging you to record your videos on Vine reciting as many digits from Pi as you can in six seconds. Make sure to follow the Discovery Channel account @discovery and include #PiDay.
How Will We Pick A Winner?
Good question. We'll be looking at your submissions a few ways: 40% for the digits recited (That means the most numbers in the allotted time – in other words, speed counts.), 40% originality (Think you can do this while eating a pie or wearing a shark suit? Bring it on.) and 20% for accuracy (You’ve got to get the numbers in there in the right sequence, it is Pi after all and we want to keep it real.)
So gang, it's time to crack open the books and reacquaint yourself with Pi. Plus, check out our information of the upcoming show The Big Brain Theory and look for sneak peek video, judge and cast bios and more in the days to come!
You've got time to pull it together. We'll be viewing submissions over Vine today through April 1st before we pick a winner. Plus, even if you aren't a prize pack winner you may get your thirty seconds of fame if we post your video here on the site.
So gang, it's time to crack open the books and reacquaint yourself with Pi. Plus, get to know the judges and engineers on the upcoming show The Big Brain Theory and look for chances to test yourself along the way.
