History of the Pantera
01:10Alejandro De Tomaso was an Argentinean émigré who is best known for his work as an automotive executive in Italy. A rivalry between himself and Carroll Shelby in the 1960's led to the development of some of the most important sports cars in history. Shelby developed the Cobra and De Tomaso counter-punched by naming his next car the 'Mangusta' which is Italian for Mongoose — a.k.a the Cobra killer. This car, born from vengeance, would eventually evolve into the Pantera.
