A Close Victory for Friesen at Eldora Dirt Derby

Canadian driver Stewart Friesen took a close win with 0.728 seconds on driver Sheldon Creed at the 2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series Eldora Dirt Derby.

Fans were on their feet in excitement for the 2019 NASCAR Gander Outdoor Truck Series Eldora Dirt Derby. Canadian driver Stewart Friesen took a close win with 0.728 seconds on driver Sheldon Creed.

After lap 94 of 150, Friesen maintained the lead and prevailed in a close two lap race against Creed to the finish line, securing his first NASCAR Gander Outdoors Truck Series career victory. The first 94 laps were held by defending Eldora Dirt Derby Champion Chase Briscoe, who ended the race in seventh.

Grant Enfinger, the championship points leader, took third. Mike Marlar and Todd Gilliland came in fourth and fifth, respectively.

The slick dirt of the Eldora Speedway challenged many of the drivers, causing spin outs and multi-truck accidents. Three-time series winner Ross Chastain began in fifth, but suffered a lone spinout and finished in 12th place. Driver Harrison Burton lost his 8th place spot with a spinout and multi-truck collision. His accident put him in 31st place out of 32 drivers, and retired his No. 18 Kyle Busch Motorsports Toyota.

Friesen was long overdue for a victory after three seasons of six runner-up finishes. His last race at Pocono Raceway put him in last place and nearly cost him a spot in the eight driver championship lineup. His Eldora Dirt Derby win secured his place with breathing room.
