stanfordresearch_017_mac.jpg Jennifer Blundo, (post doctoral student) with a, Micro Electrode Array. Cells are placed on the surface and the array material has the ability to expand as the cells grow. The array is used to pass electrical current through stem cells. This is a story about all the cool interdisciplinary research going on at Stanford. Beth Pruitt is an engineer who is working with a radiologist and medical doctor to create a "tissue patch" with stem cells that would allow doctors to repair damaged hearts in people who have suffered heart attacks. Pruitt's job is to create an environment that will allow the stem cells to "exercise" so they don't die while the professors are to working to develop this tissue patch. Artwork of a community of titanosaurs. The titanosaurs were a diverse group of sauropod (long-tailed, long-necked) dinosaurs that lived throughout the Mesozoic era. They were the last surviving sauropods, before being wiped out in the mass extinction at the end of the Cretaceous period. The group includes the largest animals ever known to have walked the Earth, with lengths of 30-40 metres and weights up to several dozen tonnes. The largest known among these animals are argentinosaurus and dreadnoughtus, from what is now Argentina, although their remains are very sparse.
