The highly anticipated documentary, INTRODUCING, SELMA BLAIR, covers a year in the life of acclaimed actress, Selma Blair, after she is diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis — an autoimmune disease which has no cure.

The film will open in select theaters on Friday, October 15 via Strand Releasing before launching on discovery+ on October 21.

INTRODUCING, SELMA BLAIR, is director Rachel Fleit’s deeply intimate and powerful feature of one woman’s journey of personal acceptance and resilience, which follows the singular actress as she reckons with the next chapter of her life after being diagnosed with Multiple Sclerosis. The film explores complex issues ranging from dissecting deep-rooted myths about beauty, and the collective fear around disability and mortality. Complete with her trademark wit and humor, the documentary follows Blair as she reconciles a journey of monumental transition.

“I am beyond pleased and proud to have discovery+ be the home for my film “debut” and for believing in the power of storytelling as a way to connect us all. I may be the subject of this film but my hope is that everyone sees themselves in it and finds some strength and joy they may not have known they had,” says Blair.

The critically acclaimed documentary premiered at the 2021 SXSW Film Festival, where the film won the Special Jury Award for Exceptional Intimacy in Storytelling in the Documentary Feature Competition.
