Venice Flood Gates
To prevent catastrophic flooding in Venice, Italy, a massive barrier must be constructed to hold off the Adriatic Sea. The enormous project calls for 79 steel floodgates, each bigger than a football field and weighing over 300 tons. It's a monumental challenge, and if successful, will take eight years to complete.

A new wave of mega-sized container ships are now under construction and changing the shipping industry. These new ships are so massive they will require retrofitting of the world's cargo ports and canals.

The longest, cable-stayed bridge in the US is constructed at one of the most difficult sites imaginable, in Charleston, South Carolina. Hurricanes, earthquakes and the world's biggest container ships are a constant threat to the construction and crews building this massive structure.

Milau Viaduct
French engineers are erecting the tallest bridge in the world, the Millau Viaduct. When complete, the massive cable-stayed bridge will solve enormous traffic issues in France and will be Europe's largest engineering project.
