A Utah first responder tasks Kevin "Mad Dog" McClung and his team of weapons-and-tools builders with creating a custom tool to rescue victims from car crashes. The resulting tool is a lightweight can-opener-type device that is not reliant on electric power that rivals the legendary Jaws of Life. Later, the Mad Dog team modernizes an ancient fighting sword for a private security contractor wanting to replace his standard issue tactical baton with a more intimidating weapon.

Mad Dog modifies a shotgun for a female bush pilot so she can protect herself from large animal attacks should she crash in the Alaskan wilderness. Later, the team creates a state-of-the-art fire ax for a local firefighter needing a lighter and stronger ax that won't burn.

Mad Dog joins an astronaut to improve a space tool that's compatible with an astronaut's pressurized space suit and is able to function on a space station. Later, a returned US Marshal needs a new-and-improved battering ram that's non-conductive in order to breach through an electrically charged door.

Mad Dog works with an American sniper to build a long-range rifle that can shoot a distance of two miles in order to defend against weapons of mass destruction overseas. Later, Mad Dog gives Jacob an opportunity to prove himself as a master apprentice by letting him take the lead building a weapon designed to protect a cowboy from predator attacks in the Utah wilderness.

Bomb Squad

The Mad Dog team reinvents a bomb-disposal kit with non-metallic material that will help a trained expert dig for mines and prevent explosive mines from being accidentally triggered. Later, Mad Dog creates a knife that attaches to an underwater exosuit for deepwater rescues.

Mad Dog uses his experience with aeronautics to guide him while reconfiguring a gyroplane into a search-and-rescue aircraft capable of spotting stranded victims both day and night. Later, the team retools a backwoods rescue kit so it will be stronger and lighter than the client's current kit.
